YHVH Ropheka
For anyone following along we are on Step 3 of our Bible Reading Plan http://www.biblelight.org/plan/step3-2.htm Week 5. This week we are reading through Matthew Chapters 8 thru 14. Matthew tells us about Jesus as the King of the coming Kingdom of God that was promised in the Old Testament. So we see a direct link with the promises made to Abraham. The kingdom of God is also described as ‘the kingdom of heaven’ (because it belongs to God) but it will be on EARTH with Jerusalem as its capital. This also means that Jesus will return. The ‘call of Christ’ is in many ways like God's call to Abram. It requires belief in the same promises that are confirmed in Jesus Christ and a life of willing discipleship.

S - Scripture: Matthew 8:1-34
And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean ... When the even was come, they brought unto him many ... and [He] healed all that were sick ... That it might be fulfilled [that He] Himself took our infirmities, and bare [our] sicknesses ... [He said to His disciples] Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?
O - Observations:
Here in this chapter we see Yehoshua (Jesus) The Healer. He healed the leper, the Centurion's servant, Peter's mother-in-law and many other un-named peoples all to fulfill Scripture that He would take on our infirmities and bare our sickness. I love the story of the leper because he worshipped Jesus despite his leprosy, before he was healed. The Centurion had faith in the spoken word of Jesus and by a single touch of the Master's hand the fever left Peter's mother-in-law. I do not think we can fully imagine this kind of power and authority. What a faith-builder, right?
Here are His closest disciples on the boat in the midst of the storm following all of this power and authority and He asks them why thy are so shy on their faith and so full of fear.
A - Application for me today:
I think we see Him work in our lives in amazing ways and somehow we forget too when the storms around us start raging. We forget that by a simple touch or a few words spoken in His Authority that people can be healed, storms can be calmed and demons can leave our presence. Why are we so full of fear and without faith?
We have been seeing for the last three days in Scripture a name for our LORD, El Shaddai, El Roi and today Ropheka, our Healer. He is everything we need ...
And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I [am] the LORD that healeth thee. Exodus 15:26

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-5
Father, cast out all fear and fill us with faith!! Let us bow before you in worship before we are healed and before you calm the storm. Let us have the faith of the Centurion man who knew of your Authority.
