S - Scripture: Matthew 9:1-38
... And Jesus knowing their thoughts ... I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance ... she said (or thought) within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole ... when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd ...
O - Observations:
He knows my every thoughts ... He calls me to repentance, I come to Him to be made whole, He is compassionate towards me, He is My Shepherd, I shall not want.
A - Application for me today:
A Compassionate Shepherd shares in the conditions in which His sheep live. He remains with the sheep in all kinds of weather. This is the embodiment of Christ's time on earth. He slept where we sleep, He ate our food, He bore our trials and died our death.
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep ... I am the Good Shepherd, and know my [sheep], and am known of mine. John 10:11, 14
Good = kalos in Greek = beautiful, handsome, excellent, eminent, choice, surpassing, precious, useful, suitable, commendable, admirable.
A shepherd in the Near East was responsible for watching out for enemies trying to attack the sheep, defending the sheep from attackers, healing the wounded and sick sheep, finding and saving lost or trapped sheep, loving them, and sharing their lives and to earn their trust.
P - Prayer in response:
Thank you Father that you have been faithful to me. You are the Shepherd of my heart. Let me praise you with all my heart. Let me kneel before you with all my strength. Yud-Hey-Vav-Hey Roi - LORD my Shepherd. I reach out and touch the hem of your garment, your tzit-tzit, seeking your power and healing. Defend me, heal me, save me, love me ... Todah for loving me and sharing in my life ...
