Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernum

Scripture:  Matthew 11:7–30

Observation:  God is amazing and awesome in every way and amazes me!  Prior to reading this passage I was studying the dynamic power of God, then I come to study this passage with y’all and “hello” there it is again!  I had a friend years ago say, “When you see it once you pay attention, when you see it twice you REALLY pay attention and if you see it a third time well you really have to ask if God’s trying to get a message across to you!”  Well this is #2 for me!

Jesus in speaking about Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum, he says that His power (doo'-nam-is; from G1410; force (literally or figuratively); specially, miraculous power (usually by implication, a miracle itself):—ability, abundance, meaning, might(-ily, -y, -y deed), (worker of) miracle(-s), power, strength, violence, mighty (wonderful) work.) was at work in these cities, but they did not repent.  He said if that kind of power had been shown in Tyre and Sidon they would have repented a LONG time ago.

God is so very patient with us, friends.  He does a LOT of incredible works in our lives to show us His power.  (If you were awake like I was last night you heard and saw some of His incredible power through nature!)  But we have a part to play too!

Application:  How will you respond to His power and the miracles in your life?  Will you repent?  Will you lay all your burdens down?  Will you learn of Him?  I don’t want to be a Chorazin “a furnace of smoke”, or a Bethsaida “a house of fish” (I might add “stinky” fish) or a Capernaum “village of consolation” (think of a consolation prize).  I want to be a Tyre “a rock”, or a Sidon “to hunt” (the one who does the hunting/fishing) or a Sodom “burning”.  I want to be strong and active and burning with His dynamic power not a second place consolation prize!

Prayer:  Father God, Your Word constantly encourages us to stop and repent and turn away from the things that do not bring You glory.  God, may we have ears to hear what Your Spirit is saying to us today.  Thank You for Your longsuffering with us, but God may we not wait until it is too late!  May we listen and obey.  In Christ I pray.  Amen & Amen
