COME UP TO THE MOUNTAIN

Exodus 24

"God's covenants and commands are so just in themselves, and so much for our good, that the more we think of them, and the more plainly and fully they are set before us, the more reason we may see to comply with them.  The blood of the sacrifice was sprinkled on the altar, on the book, and on the people. Neither their persons, their moral obedience, nor religious services, would meet with acceptance from a holy God, except through the shedding and sprinkling' of blood." ~ Matthew Henry

Moses and the 70 elders climbed up the mountain at God's request to spend time with and see the God of Israel.  The song "I can only imagine" comes to mind as I think about and imagine what they must have seen.  Scripture tells us in verses 9-11 that Moses and Aaron and Nadab and Abihu and the 70 elders climbed the mountain and saw the God of Israel.  We are not told what exactly they saw, but we know they got a glimpse of His glory that day.  All that is recorded is what was under his feet, the pavement of something like sapphires.  They couldn't even tell what it was, only that it was like sapphires, pure and clear and sky-blue.  Scripture says they saw God and they ate and drank.

Yesterday we talked about the table He prepares for us and these 74 people that day came together at a banqueting table that God prepared just for them.

I can only imagine!  But now we see through a glass darkly, (I Corinthians 13:12) but when He shall appear, then face to face. This vision of God will continue with equal, if not increasing brightness of joy; not for a few days only, but through eternity. ~ Matthew Henry

Looking forward to the day we all can go up to the mountain!

Blessings Abundant,
Michelle
