S - Scripture: Matthew 28:1-20
Sabbath day is at the end - the sun perhaps just below the horizon with a touch of light in the night sky and Mary is anxious to get to the tomb. Suddenly and earthquake and an angel with it's countenance like lightening, Scripture says, and clothing as white as snow appears to Mary. Those who were guarding the tomb could not stand in the presence of the angel and were laying around like dead men. Imagine with me the scene ... you are Mary you come to the tomb with a bunch of burley soldiers laying around, there's been an unsettling earthquake and an angel sitting up on top of the rock that used to be sealing the tomb of Yeshua, Jesus. You can barely behold the angel in your eyes - it is like that first light you see in the morning from your glaring computer screen because your eyes haven't adjusted yet, you look perhaps with part of your hand covering your face and eyes ... the angel speaks, "Mary I know you have come to see Yehoshua (Jesus) He is not here ... HE IS RISEN!!!!" (my paraphrase) Then the angel tells Mary to go to Galilee and there she will see the One she seeks and go and tell the other disciples ... "And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him." v.8-9.
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen." v. 19-20
O - Observations:
The first thing Mary and the others did who found Yehoshua (Jesus) after the resurrection was to bow down and worship Him. Secondly was to go and tell others ...
A - Application for me today:
May my first response to Him always be to bow down and worship Him ... and then to go and tell!
P - Prayer in response:
You are RISEN!!! I praise you that the story didn't end in Matthew 27! May we always meet you and bow down and worship at your feet, but let us not stay there, but to go out and tell it to all nations teaching others what You have allowed us to learn from You. Amen & Amen.
The other day while finishing up my girl's baths the doorbell rang ... I went and could see the backs of two young ladies leaving ... I stepped out of the house with my half clothed baby in arms trying to put her shirt on while seeing what the two young ladies wanted. They introduced themselves and asked if they could share some Bible truths with me and some from their "Book of Mormon" ... I politely declined their offer, telling them I had my own church home, but it got me of course thinking about their faithfulness to take their message out to their neighbors and how "neglectful" perhaps I am of sharing the message I have with others. Let's all think of ways to fulfill The Master's commission to us to Go and Tell :) or as someone I know says "Go2All" ...
THE LOVE DARE CHALLENGE
Day 13: Love fights fair
If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. —Mark 3:25
TODAY’S DARE
Talk with your spouse about establishing healthy rules of engagement. If your mate is not ready for this, then write out your own personal rules to “fight” by. Resolve to abide by them when the next disagreement occurs. If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.
EXAMPLES:
1. I will seek first to understand, then to be understood
2. I will (try to) never raise my voice in anger or frustration
3. I will look for and own up to my own faults in any given situation
4. Never go to sleep upset with each other or with unresolved issues. (very Biblical principle)
5. Always a kiss and a “I love you” at the end of any argument.
6. All issues brought to God in prayer.
