Tivet is the Biblical month.
S - Scripture: Matthew 6:1-34
The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light (phoeinos = of a bright character). Matthew 6:22
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? (v.25) Which of you by taking thought (worrying, being anxious) can add one cubit unto his stature? (v.27)
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (v.33)
O - Observations:
1) I think what Yehoshua (Jesus) was trying to say here in his continuation of the Sermon on the Mount is if we have singleness of heart, perhaps referencing back to hungering and thirsting after Righteousness, your whole body will be full of light giving character. You do not have to give alms for all to see or pray really loudly or fast in such a manner that everyone know ... instead when we have The Light of Yehoshua in us, we are going to burn so brightly we should not have to say even a word much less do all these open and public works to "prove" our character.
A - Application for today:
1) To seek His Kingdom first, being not anxious and letting tomorrow care for itself. I am in the loving Hands of my Father, keeping my eyes steady on Him, The Light of the world, will fill me with light and brightness of character.
P - Prayer:
Our Father, which art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done,
in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
[For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.]
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done,
in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
[For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.]
