SNAKES ALIVE
S - Scripture: Matthew 12:1-50; Opening scene ~ It's Sabbath, Jesus and his disciples are walking through a corn field plucking ears of corn and eating them ... Enter Pharisees stage right confronting Jesus and his disciples ... exit stage left ... later that Sabbath day Jesus enters the Synagogue and heals a man with a withered hand ... Enter Pharisees stage right confronting Jesus ... exit stage left ... Jesus is now seen healing all the sick and fulfilling the prophecies ... the people are amazed ... Enter Pharisees stage right confronting Jesus ...
O - Observations:
At every turn Jesus was challenged, but he stood up for what he believed in and only did what what was right. He was the Lamb without blemish ...
A - Application for me today:
Vs. 34-35 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Here Jesus confronts the Pharisees and asks them how they are able to speak good things when their hearts were evil? If your heart is good then good things will come forth, but if your heart is evil then evil will proceed.
P - Prayer in response:
Remove anything in me that is evil and make my heart only good. Let me not be like those you confronted who spoke what seemed good, but I want that total heart change that naturally brings forth only good things and never a harsh word or an evil thought ... change my heart Oh God, make it ever new ... change my heart Oh God, make me more like you ...
