Such a GREAT answer this morning ... to walk in trusting faith on a daily basis! That sounds simple right? Those of us who have been in religious circles most of our lives should know this by now right?
Maybe, but I needed to hear that ... I think sometimes I checked my "bag of faith" at the door of my conversion experience and accidentally picked up the "works bag" instead. You know the one filled with all of it's checklists and to do lists! Keep Sabbath (check!) don't kill anyone (not today so far, atleast not physically, right?!) ... oh my ...
Then he gave us a wonderful example of what it further means to walk in our state of JUSTIFICATION ... in 1 Kings 14:8. This is a picture of how God saw David ...
And rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee: and [yet] thou hast not been as my servant David, (how did God see David?) 1) who kept my commandments, and 2) who followed me with all his heart, [and] 3) to do [that] only [which was] right in mine eyes ...
WOW! and again I say WOW!! We humans judge based on the fact that he had an adulterous relationship and killed the poor lady's husband afterwards ... but God sees David as one who kept all the commands ... I never thought about it in the light that Pastor shared it so passionately ... that David probably broke everyone of them and yet God says "who kept my commandments" ... and God saw that he had a heart for God (when in actuality his heart was led astray by the women in his life) and finally that David ONLY did was right in God's eyes ... that's what God saw when He looked at David ... and that is how God can see me ... WOW ~ is that freeing or what?? Justified (Just if I had never sinned!) What an AMAZING God we serve. How many times have we heard that He has forgiven our sins past, present and future, but do we act like we know this? I don't ... I carry around in my other hand the bag of guilt with a tape recorder hooked to my brain ...
It is not about trying, it is about trusting ...
What a good reminder from Paul through our Pastor this mornign ... very very good sermon! I really needed to hear that this morning ...
He is able, more than able to accomplish what concerns me today.
He is able, more than able to handle anything that comes my way.
He is able, more than able, to do much more than I could ever dream.
He is able, more than able, to make me what He wants me to be.
Bless and be blessed,
Michelle
