S - Scripture: Genesis 41:1-57
And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find [such a one] as this [is], a man in whom the Spirit of God [is]? v.38
O - Observations:
1) Two full years had passed since Joseph interpretted the dreams for the butler and baker and now God's timing has come and Joseph is needed again to interpret, but this time for the Pharoah.
2) God gave the "gift" of dreams to Joseph very early on even as a young boy or teenager before he was 17 and sold into slavery and this gift or ability was used all throughout his life.
3) God gave Joseph wisdom and discretion. (בין biyn = to discern, understand, consider, to distinguish, to separate; חכם chakam = wise, skillful)
A - Application for me today:
Verse 38 speaks to Joseph's character and integrity, that he was both wise and discreet, but not because of who Joseph was but because of WHOSE Joseph was. God's spirit was clearly seen all over him and Pharoah (whom we would consider "secular" in this day and age) appreciated this about Joseph and assigned him to second only to himself and gave him his ring and put fine linen on him and a chain of gold and Joseph was made ruler that day.
Pharoah saw Joseph as a "saviour" and gave him an Egyptian name as such and gave him a bride, a wife to be his help-meet by whom Joseph had two baby boys by in short order.
When you think of someone who is wise who do you think of? Someone older perhaps who has had a lot of experience? Joseph was not short in the experience department, God made sure of that, but he was fairly young by our standards today, just a mere 30 years old.
I guess the last thing this account teaches me is that during times of plenty we should be savers, laying up for times of need that are certain to come. Some people during times of plenty are just thrilled with the "extras" and enjoy them in that moment. I have done that before, but then when times of need come there might not be anything in your storehouse. Be wise like Joseph.
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
P - Prayer in responsse:
LORD, I come to You as I have already done this morning seeking more wisdom. I want to have the testimony that Joseph bore, the evidence of your Spirit in my life. Continue working in me to do Your good will and pleasure.
THE LOVE DARE CHALLENGE
If you thought the previous days were hard, what about today? Placing yourself in a position to be "criticized". Ask God for His wisdom in this thing today. If your spouse is willing to share this with you let him/her and then ask God about these things and what you might do with them in order to improve your testimony of TRUE LOVE ... If these things are true, and often truth hurts, ask God to not only let your heart be broken over these things, but to mend your heart as well. You are humbling yourself today before your loved one, let God use this day in your life to grow you.
Day 5: Love is not rude
He who blesses his friend with a loud voice early in the morning, it will be reckoned a curse to him.—Proverbs 27:14
TODAY’S DARE
Ask your spouse to tell you three things that cause him or her to be uncomfortable or irritated with you. You must do so without attacking them or justifying your behavior. This is from their perspective only.
