Tivet is the Biblical month, B'reshiyth is the original or Hebrew word for Genesis and it means "Beginnings".
S - Scripture: Genesis 8:1-22
And God remembered Noah, and every living thing ... with him in the ark ... and the ark rested ...And God spake unto Noah, saying, "Go forth from the ark ..." ... And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD ... And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart [is] evil from his youth ...
O - Observations
1. God remembered or considered Noah and every living thing with him in the ark.
2. In the 7th month the ark rested. The 7th day is a day of rest and in the 7th month God caused the ark to rest. Connection? Perhaps ... just an observation ... it rested Scripture says on the 17th day of that month which was Tishri ... right in the middle of the Feast of Tabernacles which starts on the 15th day of that month.
3. The waters decreased until the 10th month. What is the 10th month? Tivet ... this month!
4. After it rested and the tops of the mountains were seen it took another 40 day cleansing period for all the waters to abate bringing us somewhere in the 12th month (Adar) then he sent out the raven.
5. After the raven was a dove, but she returned and was sent out a week later and she returned with a olive branch and after another week or 7 days she was sent out again, but did not return. (Three more weeks) bringing us to the 1st month (Nisan) and the the first day of the month or the New Moon and Noah removed the covering.
6. In the second month on the 27th day the earth was finally dried up and God who it was said "remembered Noah" almost a year before this time came and spoke to Noah and told him it was safe to leave the ark ...
7. Noah and all that were with him left the ark and Noah built and altar and worshipped the LORD.
A - Application for today
1. How many of us, including myself, would have taken off the cover in the 1st month and found a way out of that ark? Too often we (I) move outside of His timing and jump the gun in a manner of speaking ... Noah waited on the LORD.
Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. Revelation 14:12
2. God remembered or had Noah on His mind ... He did not lock them in the ark and throw away the key or forget about him ... God had Noah on His mind and He has you and I on His mind too! Matthew 6:25-34 tells us that God thinks about the birds and the lilies and the grass ... how much more you are to Him than those things!
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11
P - Prayer
God in Heaven,
Thou hast shown mercy unto me, and hast saved me and hast not caused me to perish. Thy grace hath been great towards me, and great hath been Thy mercy to my soul. May Your kindness be raised high over Your children's children. I will bless you day by day and praise your name for ever. Who is like you among the gods, O Lord ... In your steadfast love you led the people whom you redeemed; you guided them by your strength to your holy abode. Guide me today in all things. Thank you for thinking of me, keep my mind stayed on you.
Amen & Amen
