Scripture: Matthew 23:1–39
11 The
greatest among you shall be your servant.
Observation: These are some of Yeshua’s last teachings in
this passage. He spoke first to the
crowds and then to his disciples. If you
knew the end were near you would probably choose your actions and words most
carefully. Yeshua knew that He would die
soon and focuses on some very important words.
He wasn’t trying to burden them with lots of rules or regulations, but
was trying to make their burden(s) lighter.
It wasn’t about getting recognition for being powerful or highly
honored, but becoming like Yeshua and being a servant.
Application: What is important today? What attitudes do you need to change to be
more like Yeshua? Are you experiencing
real change or only outward changes?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, may we carefully examine our
lives against the teaching in Matthew 23 today.
May our lives reflect not only an outward change, but an inward change
of the heart that You desire. Thank you
for making bold statements and teaching us to have a servant’s heart. Through Christ, our Example, I pray, Amen
& Amen.
