DAILY TO-DO LIST

Good Morning Friends,

Today's thoughts are coming from John 14.  As I read about Phillip and his many questions and Christ's response to him, "Don't you understand?"  I began to think that if the disciples, who walked with Jesus face to face for three years, had a hard time figuring out things of God, why is it we think with our complicated theologies and studies that we think we have it all figured out??

John 14:12 says that what Christ did on earth we will do also.  The Message version puts it this way, "I am giving you the same work to do that I've been doing."  So I asked myself what did Jesus do (the proverbial WWJD)?

My simple list looked like this:

  - He got up and prayed every morning.
  - He met the needs of the people He came into contact with during the day.
  - He fixed up people's boo-boos (in simple mommy terms).
  - He fed people.
  - He taught people about God and life.

Now that may be oversimplifying things, but as I began constructing my list it started to look a lot like my daily to do list.  That's how people were supposed to understand and see God, The Father, the verses above say.  When we do these everyday things meeting people's needs as they are brought to our attention, fixing up boo-boos and making meals for people we love we are doing the work Christ did on earth, we are showing others the love of the Father.  What a tremendous to-do list we have!  Our list may seem ho-hum and hum-drum, but it's really not when you think of the bigger picture and the eternal implications.

Peace I leave you, MY peace, Christ says, He gives to you to do all these things and even more verse 12 says.  We can have Christ's peace throughout our day completing our to-do lists when we do them for the right reasons.  John 14:28 gives us one of those reasons, John 14:28b in the Message says, "I'm on my way to the Father because the Father is the goal and purpose of my life."

As you put together your daily to-do list today, doing the things Christ did here on earth, make the Father the goal of it all, live as Christ lived and do it with peace :)  Your family, your friends, the people you come in contact with are looking for something greater, for a glimpse of a Creator God, and heaven forbid we do our lists without His Peace, without His Love and someone should be lost without seeing that!

Blessings Abundant & Shalom Ya'll!

Peace out ...
